The word “spotted” refers to large spot like features that form on the tree as it sheds its bark in strips and adds character to the wood.

Red Ironbark is a medium to large tree that grows in the dryer regions in Northern NSW and Eastern QLD.
European Oak
European Oak
European oak or English oak, is a species of flowering plant in the beech and oak family, Fagaceae. It is native to most of Europe, west of the Caucasus. The tree is widely cultivated in temperate regions, with the Oak tree being one of the most dominant broad-leaved species in temperate Europe. The clearly demarcated heartwood is light brown to dark brown. Oak is mostly straight grained with a medium to coarse texture. European oak is singular in its smooth texture, cool consistent color range and straight tight grain.
