Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between engineered floors and hardwood floors?
Solid hardwood floors are made from solid wood and are site-finished. Engineered flooring is made from a single piece of hardwood or plywood with a layer of hardwood veneer affixed to the top surface and is usually pre-finished.
How long will my floor last?
This varies on several factors. If you regularly clean and maintain your floors, they should last for many years.
Will my home get dusty when my floors are being sanded?
There is no such thing as a dustless machine (despite what other floor sanders may say in their spiels!). While 99% of the sawdust does get picked up by the in-built vacuum systems in the machines, the very fine minute dust does not. The dust remains airborne until it settles on a horizontal surface like blinds, benches and windowsills. The dust can also settle in curtains, so taking your window coverings down during the floor sanding process is advisable if this is a concern to you.
How will I know when my timber or engineered wood floor needs recoating?
The finish will begin to show signs of wear when your solid or engineered wood floors need a new coating – it will lack the lustre it once had.

Right from the start Daniel and Natural Wood Floors have been professional, clear and easy to deal with (not to mention the very reasonable cost involved). Daniel and the team did an amazing job of renovating our American Oak floor. As soon as I met Daniel I knew I was in safe hands. He explained the process and understood immediately the result I was looking for. The existing floor surface finish had yellowed over the years. Daniel reassured me that the grain of the timber would be enhanced by the sanding process and the application of a matte finish. The results were outstanding and our floors look modern and brand new. Would 100% recommend these guys, and will 100% use them again. The entire house feels more modern now, and is substantially brighter inside. In fact, the hardwood flooring looks 100% better than the floating floors I installed (and I am so happy I went this approach).
